Private candidates who sat the 2025 Second Series computer based West African Senior School Certificate Examination can now access their results following an official release by the West African Examinations Council on Monday.

The examination held between Tuesday, 11th November and Wednesday, 17th December 2025, drew 65,752 candidates across 370 centres nationwide, including 235 candidates with special needs, comprising visually impaired, hearing impaired, and albino candidates.

Of the total candidates who sat the examination, 27,727, representing 42.17%, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. This figure comprises 13,416 males, representing 48.39%, and 14,311 females, representing 51.61%.

This performance represents a decline compared to previous years, where 44.29% achieved similar results in 2023 and 53.64% in 2024, indicating a marginal decrease of 11.47% this year.

The Head of National Office of WAEC Nigeria, Dr Amos Dangut, whose statement was released through the organisation's spokesperson Mrs Moyosola Adesina, disclosed that 69,604 candidates enrolled for the examination, representing a 1.8% increase compared with the 2024 entry figure of 68,342.

Dr Dangut revealed that 61,943 candidates, representing 94.21%, have had their results fully processed and released. However, 3,809 candidates, representing 5.79%, still have some subjects being processed due to errors traceable to them. He assured that efforts are ongoing to resolve these cases promptly.

Additionally, 1,899 candidates' results, representing 2.89%, are being withheld in connection with reported examination malpractice cases. Dr Dangut noted that investigations are ongoing and reports will be presented to the appropriate Committee of the Council for determination, after which decisions will be communicated directly to affected candidates.

Candidates have been directed to visit www.waecdirect.org to check their results before proceeding to the Digital Certificate platform at www.waec.org to access released digital certificate copies.

"Candidates will be required to apply for the printing of the hard copies of their certificates online through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (eCertman), with the address  https://certrequest.waec.ng/," Dr Dangut declared.
