The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced Saturday, 13th June, 2026 as the date for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination mop up exercise, providing a final opportunity for candidates who were unable to complete the main examination.

According to the board, the mop up exercise is open to candidates who presented themselves and were biometrically verified during the main examination window but could not sit the test for various reasons. The 2026 UTME was conducted between 16th and 29th April, 2026.

JAMB disclosed that certain examination centres experienced technical challenges during the main examination period, making it impossible for several candidates to participate. Additionally, the board noted that some results were subsequently withdrawn due to examination infractions, while other candidates who presented themselves could not be verified biometrically. All affected candidates have been listed for the mop up examination.

The board described the mop up exercise as the final phase of the annual UTME cycle, stressing that it serves as the concluding opportunity to resolve all outstanding examination challenges for candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties.

JAMB urged affected candidates to commence printing their Examination Notification Slips from Saturday, 6th June, 2026. The board further advised candidates to familiarise themselves with their designated examination centres and complete all necessary arrangements ahead of the examination date.

Fabian Benjamin, PhD, OrgExpert, the board's Public Communications Adviser, stressed in the announcement that there will be no further opportunity for any candidate to sit the 2026 UTME after the mop up exercise, making compliance with the outlined procedures essential for all affected candidates.
