Students preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination who have updated their National Identity Management Commission details but lost access to their registered phone numbers now have a new way to retrieve their information.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board announced via its official X platform that affected candidates can complete the requery process using their previously registered email addresses instead of phone numbers.

This solution addresses a persistent problem where candidates who recently corrected their NIMC biodata cannot retrieve the updated information for fresh registration because they no longer have access to the SIM cards originally used during NIMC enrollment.

The Board specified that this email driven requery service operates exclusively through JAMB Professional Registration Centres nationwide and remains unavailable at ordinary Computer Based Test centres or through online channels.

Candidates facing this difficulty must present themselves at any JAMB Professional Registration Centre with their registration documentation and acceptable identification to access the service.

The measure is expected to assist a substantial number of 2026 UTME applicants whose corrected NIMC data has remained inaccessible in the JAMB system solely due to phone number related complications.

This announcement comes as the registration exercise continues its countdown toward the final deadline of 26th February 2026, a date JAMB has consistently maintained will not be adjusted regardless of circumstances.

Numerous students who responsibly updated their NIMC profiles to meet examination requirements have found themselves stuck in the registration process simply because they replaced their phone numbers or misplaced their original SIM cards after establishing their NIMC accounts.

By introducing this email based workaround, JAMB acknowledges the authentication difficulties that emerge when separate databases must synchronise effectively during periods of intense registration activity.

Students affected by this situation are strongly advised to act without delay and locate their nearest Professional Registration Centre to utilise this facility before registration concludes.

The initiative represents another step in JAMB's continuing efforts to eliminate technical and procedural obstacles that might prevent eligible candidates from registering for the examination despite satisfying all essential criteria.
