Ten thousand students in Anambra State will have their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees paid under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda Scholarship Scheme, which targets 50,000 students across the five states of the South East region.
Each beneficiary will receive N8,500 to cover registration fees for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The National Coordinator of the South East Renewed Hope Agenda, Mr. Belusochukwu Enwerem, officially launched the programme in Anambra, describing it as part of President Tinubu's commitment to quality education and youth empowerment.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Enwerem said the occasion represented more than just a formal launch, calling it a movement of hope and empowerment that affirms financial limitations should not determine the future of students in Anambra State.
He stressed that education remains the strongest foundation for sustainable development and described the programme as a deliberate investment in thousands of future professionals, including doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and national leaders.
Mr. Enwerem clarified that the initiative goes beyond charity, positioning it instead as strategic empowerment aligned with the Renewed Hope vision of youth inclusion, improved access to education, and long term human capital development.
He urged beneficiaries to approach the opportunity with discipline, determination, and excellence while preparing seriously for their examinations. Addressing parents and guardians, he noted that the programme is designed to ease financial pressure and send a clear message that their children's future truly matters.
The State Coordinator of the Anambra State Chapter of the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SARHA), Comrade Alphonsus Muonagolu, said it was a thing of joy that students across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State are among the beneficiaries. He thanked President Tinubu for the gesture and appealed to beneficiaries to seize the opportunity, register for the examination, and perform excellently.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Chiziterem Ezenwaobasiri, expressed happiness over the gesture. Two other beneficiaries, Chizoba Chukwumaejim and Patrick Onuora, appreciated the President and prayed God to sustain him. Others who spoke noted that President Tinubu has lifted a burden from parents seeking to secure higher education for their children.
