Students from less privileged backgrounds across Gombe State's three senatorial districts have received a boost following Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's approval to fund 6,000 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration forms.

The Gombe State Students Association leadership expressed appreciation for the intervention, with Comrade Muhammad Alamin Bako, the association's National President, who serves as Senior Adviser to the Governor on Student Affairs, representing Gombe North, describing it as critical support for families facing financial pressure.

Alamin explained that beneficiaries were carefully selected through a process designed to ensure the support reaches students genuinely requiring assistance, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds across Gombe North, Central, and South Senatorial Districts.

He positioned the initiative as evidence of the governor's commitment to human capital development, stressing that it reflects the administration's determination to make education accessible regardless of socioeconomic status.

"This initiative is not just about paying examination fees; it is about securing the future of Gombe youths. It demonstrates His Excellency's passion for education and his desire to see our young people succeed," Alamin stated.

The GOSSA president described the gesture as a "lifeline" for thousands of families struggling to support their children's educational ambitions, noting that the free JAMB forms would significantly ease the financial burden on parents and encourage more students to pursue higher education.

He praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya for sustained investment in the education sector across the state's 11 local government areas, framing the JAMB sponsorship as part of broader efforts to strengthen educational access.

Alamin reaffirmed the association's continued support for policies and programmes that promote educational advancement and youth empowerment throughout Gombe State.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the development, characterising it as timely relief during a period when economic challenges threaten many families' ability to fund their children's examination costs.

Observers noted that Governor Yahaya's consistent attention to educational development, including infrastructural improvements, enhanced learning environments, and student support programmes, is positioning Gombe State as an emerging model for educational progress in the North East.

The 6,000 sponsored registrations provide immediate relief to students who might have missed the 2026 UTME due to financial constraints, potentially transforming academic prospects for young people across the state whose tertiary education ambitions were previously limited by economic circumstances.
