The Dr. Cairo Ojougboh Foundation has reinforced its commitment to supporting educational advancement in Nigeria by disbursing ₦2,700,000 to cover examination fees for students preparing for the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 examinations.
The Foundation, established to honour the late medical doctor and House of Representatives member, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, organised a special programme at St. Columba's Grammar School, Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area in Delta State, themed "Your Future, Your Choice."
Beyond settling examination costs, the Foundation presented cash awards to top performing students across the school's nine academic divisions and distributed notebooks and writing materials to help them learn.
Foundation Chairperson, Mrs. Bose Ojougboh, emphasised the significance of supporting the institution that shaped Dr. Cairo's character and values. She urged students to view obstacles as stepping stones for growth rather than barriers, encouraging them to transform challenges into opportunities. She stressed that "every decision they make contributes to their future, emphasising that discipline, consistency, and focus are non negotiable for success factors."
Mrs. Ojougboh, accompanied by her sons Mr. Nkem Ojougboh and Mr. Orieka Ojougboh, called on students to accept responsibility for their futures through deliberate positive choices in academic and personal spheres.
The occasion saw strong attendance by the Old Boys of St. Columba's Grammar School, led by Elder Ndudi Agholor, who shared nostalgic recollections of their school years whilst commending the current leadership for upholding institutional standards.
School principal Rev. Fr. Joseph Ugboh and Ika South Local Government Chairman Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior praised the Cairo Ojougboh family for the initiative, describing it as a meaningful preservation of Dr. Cairo's legacy. They expressed gratitude for the generous support, noting its motivational impact on students.
