Step 2: Payment of Registration Fees

Your school pays the registration fees through the NECO Treasury Single Account (TSA) using the Remita platform. Payment methods include:

  • Internet banking
  • Bank branch
  • USSD transfer

  • Date of birth
  • State of origin
  • Local Government Area
  • Gender
  • Subjects to register (minimum 7, maximum 9)

Step 5: Biometric Data Capture

This is mandatory for all candidates. Your school arranges for biometric capture using the Futronic FS80H Fingerprint Scanner. Your fingerprints and photograph will be captured and linked to your registration.

Important: If you have special needs (low vision, hearing impairment, or other learning challenges), inform your school so they can indicate this during registration.

Step 6: Verification and Photocard Collection

After registration is complete, verify all your details on the printed photocard:

Things to Avoid During NECO Registration

  1. Ensure your name matches your birth certificate or official documents exactly. Corrections after submission cost ₦10,000.
  2. Triple check your date of birth. Errors here cause serious problems during admission verification.
  3. Use a clear, recent passport photograph with white or blue background (not red). In school uniform for school candidates. Size must be 275 x 314 pixels.
  4. Choose subjects that align with your career goals and university requirements. You cannot change subjects after the deadline.
  5. Biometric capture is mandatory. Without it, your registration is incomplete and you won't be allowed to write the examination.
  6. Registering after the regular deadline attracts an additional ₦5,000 penalty. Register early to avoid extra costs.
  7. Always verify your photocard details immediately after registration. Report errors to your school or NECO office straight away.
  8. Most universities require at least 5 O'Level credits, but registering for 8-9 subjects gives you better chances and flexibility.

Once your registration is complete:

  1. Print and keep your photocard - You must present it at the examination hall
