Civil Law remains one of the most competitive and respected courses in Nigerian universities. The JAMB cut off mark for Civil Law for the 2026/2027 academic session ranges from 180 to 300, depending on the university and how competitive its programme is.

Civil Law focuses on legal systems, constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, property law, commercial law, human rights, and dispute resolution. Students are trained to understand legal principles, interpret laws, analyse cases, and apply legal reasoning to real-life situations. The programme also develops critical thinking, public speaking, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

Graduates of Civil Law work in law firms, courts, government agencies, corporate organisations, banks, international organisations, and private businesses. Many become lawyers, judges, legal advisers, prosecutors, corporate consultants, or academics after attending the Nigerian Law School and being called to the Bar.

Below are the universities offering Civil Law in Nigeria alongside their expected JAMB cut off marks for 2026 admission.
