Healthcare begins with understanding the human body, and Anatomy is the foundation of modern medicine and biomedical research. The JAMB cut off mark for Anatomy for the 2026/2027 academic session ranges from 150 to 230, depending on the university and programme demand.

Anatomy studies the structure of the human body, including organs, tissues, cells, bones, muscles, and body systems through laboratory and clinical methods. Students train in histology, embryology, neuroscience, human development, and microscopic anatomy while building diagnostic and research skills.

Graduates work as anatomists, biomedical researchers, laboratory scientists, lecturers, and healthcare specialists in hospitals, medical labs, universities, pharmaceutical companies, research institutes, and public health organisations.

Below are Nigerian universities offering Anatomy along with their JAMB cut off marks, admission requirements, subject combinations, and career opportunities.

Federal Universities Offering Anatomy

Not every federal university offers Anatomy as a standalone degree. Most offer it within the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Below are the federal institutions that do, along with their cut off marks for 2026.

Requirements That Get Students Rejected

Your JAMB score is important, but it will not save you if you ignore the rules below.

O Level Requirements

You need at least five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. All five sciences are compulsory. No exceptions. These credits must come from no more than two exam sittings. WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB results are accepted.

UTME Subject Combination

You must register for English Language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Do not register for Mathematics in place of Biology or Physics. That combination will get your application rejected immediately.

Where Can Anatomy Take You?

Anatomy leads to careers in healthcare, research, forensics, and education.

1. Anatomist

Teaching anatomy to medical, nursing, and allied health students. Anatomists work in universities and medical schools, guiding the next generation through the human body.

2. Clinical Researcher

Studying how diseases affect body structures. Clinical researchers work in hospitals, research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies.

3. Forensic Anatomist

Examining remains to determine the cause of death, identity, and time of death. Forensic anatomists work with police, coroners, and crime labs.

4. Medical Illustrator

Creating detailed drawings and diagrams of body structures for textbooks, journals, and educational materials. A rare but specialised field.

5. Pathology Assistant

Working alongside pathologists to examine tissue samples, organs, and specimens. Pathology assistants help diagnose diseases by looking at structure.

6. Embryologist

Studying how the body forms before birth. Embryologists work in fertility clinics, research labs, and hospitals.

7. Museum Curator

Managing anatomy museums and specimen collections. Anatomical specimens must be preserved, catalogued, and displayed properly.

8. University Lecturer

Teaching anatomy to undergraduates and postgraduate students. Many anatomists remain in academia, training future health professionals.

9. Graduate Entry Medicine

Many Anatomy graduates go on to study Medicine. The strong foundation in body structure gives them an advantage.

10. Medical Sales Representative

Pharmaceutical and medical device companies need people who understand the body. Anatomy graduates explain how products interact with human tissues.
