The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has concluded arrangements to construct a new archives, library and gallery complex at its National Headquarters in Abuja, following a benchmarking partnership with the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. The Registrar, Professor Is haq Oloyede, disclosed the collaboration during an expanded management meeting held on Friday, 10th July 2026, which was attended by a delegation from the university.

The planned facility follows a report submitted by a visitation team led by the Director of Quality Assurance, Hon. Danladi Muhammed, who had earlier travelled to the University of Cape Coast to study its archival and library systems. Prof Oloyede revealed that the Board established its inhouse Archives about four years earlier, and the facility would now be upgraded to meet global standards.

Conducting the visiting delegation on a tour of the Board's current library and the intended site for the new complex, the Registrar explained that the Archives had initially been set up with support from the National Archives of Nigeria before being relocated to the Test Development Complex under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Department. He noted that the ongoing partnership with the university was designed to help JAMB reposition the facility in a more suitable location and in line with international best practice.

Prof Oloyede further clarified that the invitation extended to the University of Cape Coast formed part of the Board's wider interuniversity partnership drive, stressing that the move was not because JAMB lacked ideas but because two good heads were better than one. He also informed the delegation that the Board currently operates two libraries, an academic one domiciled at the Test Development Department and an administrative one located at the Headquarters.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen institutional knowledge management as JAMB works towards completing the new archives, library, and gallery facility at its Abuja Headquarters.
