The Adamawa State Government has ordered the immediate relocation of 12 National Examinations Council examination centres from vulnerable schools to safer locations, following heightened security concerns triggered by the abduction of students and a teacher in neighbouring Borno State on 29 June 2026.

The directive, issued through the Ministry of Education and Human Development, is a precautionary measure to protect candidates, teachers, invigilators, supervisors and NECO officials while sustaining the ongoing Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

Permanent Secretary Aisha Mohammed Umar stated that "the decision was taken in the best interest of the state and to guarantee the safety of our children, teachers and examination personnel," adding that the relocation would remain in force until the security situation improves.

Meanwhile, parents and residents of Lassa in Askira/Uba Local Council Area staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday, calling on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babagana Zulum and the Nigerian Army to intensify rescue efforts. Protesters confirmed that 36 students and a teacher remained in captivity following Monday's attack on Government Day Secondary School, Lassa.

The ministry urged school administrators, community leaders, parents, and NECO officials to cooperate fully with the relocation directive and ensure strict compliance.
