Nigeria's admissions landscape for the 2026/2027 academic session will take shape on 11th May, 2026, when the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board convenes its annual Policy Meeting on Admissions at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, is expected to unveil key policy directions at the meeting, which serves as the principal forum where stakeholders determine minimum tolerable UTME marks, admission guidelines, and policies for tertiary institutions across the country.

JAMB's annual policy meeting has over the years functioned as the single most important gathering in Nigeria's tertiary admissions calendar. Decisions reached at the forum directly affect hundreds of thousands of candidates who sit the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination each year, as institutions and regulators align on the cut off marks and conditions under which students gain entry into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Attendees will include Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Registrars, and their admission officers, alongside regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission, the National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education. Goodwill messages are also expected from NELFUND, NYSC, and other critical stakeholders.

The meeting is further expected to formally set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise, impressing on all attendees the need to adhere strictly to stipulated guidelines.

Also on the programme is the 6th Edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards, NATAP M. Since its introduction, the awards scheme has served as JAMB's mechanism for recognising institutions that comply with admission guidelines and uphold merit based entry standards, reinforcing transparency and accountability across the tertiary education sector.
