Prospective Senior Secondary School Three students in Benue State will not be accredited for external examinations unless they participate in the upcoming Mock Senior Secondary Certificate Examination. The Benue State Quality Assurance and Examinations Board has declared the mock exercise a mandatory qualifying requirement for all students seeking promotion to the next class.
The board emphasized that only candidates who successfully register and participate in the examination will be accredited to sit for external examinations such as the West African Senior School Certificate Examination and the National Examination Council exams the following year. Consequently, any student who fails to take part in the mock exercise will not be promoted to Senior Secondary School Three.
Information Officer of the board, Jeffrey Adzam, issued a stern warning regarding the new policy. "All concerned are strongly advised to ensure strict compliance with these directives," Adzam stated.
According to the board, registration for the 2026 Mock SSCE is strictly online and must be completed through the official portal. A firm deadline of March 31, 2026, has been set for the process. The board urged school principals, parents, and guardians to treat the registration with utmost seriousness to avoid disqualification or late penalties.
The Mock SSCE is designed to prepare final year secondary school students for their main leaving examinations. By simulating real exam conditions, the exercise aims to help students identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas needing improvement before the actual national exams.
BEQAEB noted that early registration allows schools and candidates sufficient time for proper documentation, verification, and preparation. School authorities have been advised to guide students and parents through the process to ensure all required details are accurately submitted.
This announcement comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Benue State Government to strengthen educational quality assurance and improve performance in national examinations. Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their wards by promptly providing necessary documents and fees where applicable, while students are reminded to stay focused on their studies as the mock exam serves as a critical benchmark ahead of the main examinations. Candidates and schools are advised to visit the BEQAEB office or official channels for further details.
